Seven graces for a boy (8’47 | 2008 | Argentine, France | Mini DV)
Koki was my colleague in Paris during an artistic residence at Palais de Tokyo, in France. He couldn’t speak French and, at that time, his English wasn’t very good. Despite this, we became friends and made a couple of works together. One day, Koki made a commentary about my films; he said: “why don’t you try to make a film that a child could enjoy?” 
Seven Graces for a boy came from this idea.
In this film, we watch seven performing actions inspired by Koki Tanaka’s artistic works. In his works, daily life objects play unusual actions, doing movements that subvert its first nature and function. In my film, it’s Koki, as an actor, who plays the role of these objects.
Seven Graces for a boy can be seen as a homage to a friend, as a video that tries to make funny about things around us and, also, as a reinterpretation of someone’s work.
